What is CCP?
College Credit Plus is Ohio’s dual enrollment program that provides students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking courses from Ohio colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to enhance students’ career readiness and post-secondary success, while providing a wide variety of options to college-ready students, at no or limited costs to students and families.
Where are classes taken?
You may be able to take some College Credit Plus courses at your high school. You may also travel to the college where you have been admitted or enroll in online courses offered by that college. All Ohio public colleges and universities, as well as many independent colleges in Ohio offer College Credit Plus courses
How is it funded?
Option B: No cost to you. This option is available only to Ohio residents. Your high school pays tuition and also textbooks. You earn both high school and college credit.
* The cost of a parking pass is the student’s responsibility if taking classes on campus.
Option A: You pay for tuition, books, and materials, and can choose to receive only college credit (grade is not factored into the high school GPA) or both high school and college credit. If you want high school credit, you will need to ask to have the course added to your transcript.
What are the requirements to participate in YSU CCP?
Beginning with applications for the summer 2026 term, students meet state eligibility and YSU admission criteria if they meet one of the following pathways:
Test Optional: Students with a minimum unweighted, overall high school GPA of 3.0 and a minimum core* GPA of 2.0 are eligible; no test scores are required.
Test Required: Students with a minimum unweighted, overall high school GPA of 2.0, and a minimum core GPA of 2.0, and meet one of the six following college readiness benchmarks:
ACT English score of 18
ACT MATH score of 22
ACT Reading score of 22
SAT Evidence-based Reading & Writing score of 480
SAT MATH score of 530
YSU Accuplacer Reading score of 250
*Admission to the CCP program is different from course placement. Just because you are admitted does not mean you are guaranteed to take a course. For example, your ACT/ SAT scores may be high enough for admission, but your sub-score may not be high enough to take certain courses. Certain courses require MORE than the minimum ACT subscores.
What are the next steps if I may be interested in participating in CCP for the first time?

CCP Pathways
College Credit Plus allows you to earn college credit before graduating high school at no cost (under Option B). Many school districts can offer YSU courses right in the high school building so you can take the classes as part of your regular school day. You can also come to campus and take classes online.
The credit pathways shown HERE are examples of courses that count towards degrees at YSU and may transfer to other University System of Ohio colleges and universities. You can view the curriculum requirements here. YSU advisors are ready to help you choose the best path for your future degree.
Pathways that are exactly 15 or 30-credit hours may be achieved by selecting various courses. Courses may be takes over a longer period of time and sometimes be in different sequences. YSU advisors and your high school guidance counselor can help you explore your options.
