If your student is interested in participating in our CCP (College Credit Plus) courses, they will need to show that they are remediation free on the ACT or SAT prior to signing up for courses (or take placement tests if ACT scores are not earned). For example, if a student plans to take CCP courses in the Sophomore year, they will need to take the ACT or SAT in the spring of the Freshman year and achieve a remediation free score in the subject area that they wish to take a course. Otherwise, most students typically begin taking the ACT and SAT in the Junior year and continue to take the tests additional times throughout their Senior year.
The ACT remediation free scores are:
English - 18
Reading - 22
Math - 22
Science - 23
The SAT remediation free scores are:
Evidence-Based Reading and Writing - 480
Mathematics - 530
The PSAT is a preliminary SAT test administered to students to help predict their performance on the SAT. This test is also used to identify possible National Merit Scholarship candidates (only if taken in the fall of the student's Junior year). The PSAT is a good (inexpensive) practice and preparatory test for students to take prior to taking the ACT or SAT, however, these scores are not used for entrance into colleges and universities. Students are welcome and encouraged to take the PSAT, but it is not mandatory.
