What is TOYBOX?

TOYBOX stands for Training Opportunities with Youngsters to Broaden Occupational eXperiences. The TOYBOX Program is an early learning center within an occupational high school laboratory setting. The high school students observe, lesson plan, and teach the children under the direction and guidance of professional staff. Prior to working in the TOYBOX Early Learning Center, high school students have taken prerequisite coursework covering a variety of Early Childhood Education topics including developmentally appropriate practices and positive guidance.

What do children learn at TOYBOX?

The TOYBOX Early Learning Center is a play-based preschool to help children develop socially, gain a positive self-concept and foster an attitude of enthusiasm about learning at an early age. Through play, children learn to express themselves, think critically, solve problems, develop socially, and learn the academic areas. Everyday TOYBOX preschoolers participate in calendar, recess, free play, snacks, lunch, rest time and are taught 3-5 lessons.
