How do I request my online classes?

The process for requesting online classes is the same for full-time online students and concurrent students with two important distinctions:

Concurrent-enrollment students should start here to register for the first time and to add/change classes throughout the year: your home-campus counselor will approve or adjust your choices through this process.
New full-time online students must first be accepted to Global Academy and attend their in-person onboarding meeting prior to requesting classes. Your first class choices will be completed using this process during that meeting.
NEW! Continuing full-time Global students will now use the Infinite Campus app to request new classes or update your schedule. Follow the directions below to get started!

Important Notes About Online Courses

Important notes for students:

To receive credit in an online course, students must pass their final with a score of 60% or better. Final exams are challenging and represent application of the lessons and learning in each class. Students who are successful have read and taken notes in the lessons and have spent time in the interactive activities. While some students have moved faster through the course by skipping the reading and using Google to help with activities and assignments, they usually have not been able to pass the final and subsequently have failed the class. Please take these courses seriously, use the lesson slides to do the assignments, and study well before the final exam.
Students taking courses for a grade replacement must take the same course as the original. For example, to replace a grade in an Honors level class, the same Honors course must be selected at Global.
We encourage you to challenge yourself to Honors level courses. They are available in English (7th grade through English II), Math, Science and Modern Language for all students. Honors English III and IV are reserved for Full-Time Global Academy student only.

Requesting, adding, or changing on online class: New instructions for current full-time and concurrent online students and parents

1. Navigate to Infinite Campus

Start by logging in to Infinite Campus and clicking "Show More," and then choosing the Online Concurrent Course Request Icon. This can be done by students or parents!

2. Complete Parent Agreement and Student Orientation

Parents will need to complete an online learning agreement, which outlines our school policies and students will complete our 30-minute orientation course to learn how to succeed online. Orientation courses are updated each year, and students may be required to review new information each July to stay up to date.

Students and parents can complete these forms separately, but both need to be finished to proceed with scheduling. You can see the status of these tasks each time you log in to the Online Course Request app in IC.

3. Choose your course and start date

You will be asked to complete a brief form indicating the date you'd like to start and your requested class Just start typing the title or course code in the field to move more quickly through the choices.

There are links to our course catalogs if you would like to browse what is available.

4. Counselor reviews and approves courses

Your student's counselor will review the class requests and make any necessary adjustments.

You can view this status in the queue, and once your courses are approved, both student and parent will get an email letting you know that your request has now been sent to the Global Academy team for scheduling.

5. Global Academy assesses any fees and schedules course for approved date.

If you are taking 6 or more classes already for the same time period, you will be assessed an Extra Course Fee of $250 per class.

After that is paid, the Global team will schedule your class and it will appear in Buzz on your scheduled start date. It's a good idea to put this in your calendar, so you remember to get started right away!

You'll see this class in your schedule in IC in class periods labeled OL 1-6, just below the section for in-person classes.

Sometimes a counselor will enter a request that is part of a conversation they have had with a parent or student. Both student and parent will receive an email instructing them to go to IC and finish enrollment. You may even have been given a link that sent you here.

If this is the case, this means your course has already been approved by your counselor, and you just need to complete the parent and student portion that is listed above to keep moving in the process.

With your counselor's approval, yes! To register for future online courses, please start with these steps:

Review your course plan in IC by clicking the Grad Tracker icon to determine which classes youll need for the coming year.

Review Global Academy's course offerings to see what would best fit into your plan and would be a good fit for you as a learner.
Make an appointment with your counselor to discuss any online classes you may wish to take for the 2027-28 school year.
Register for any in-person classes following your school’s instructions in early second semester.

If you believe you may qualify for a fee reduction ($125) or waiver (no charge), your parent can complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application. If approved, they will receive a waiver that can be sent directly to Global Academy at GlobalRecords@gilbertschools.net to change your fee in InTouch. If you already have a Free and Reduced waiver for the current school year, your parent may send it to us without completing the application again.

Extra Course Fees and Waivers

Policy:

When a student requests an an online course, the number of credit-bearing courses the student is already in (EVIT counts as 1) is counted. If the student already has six or more classes then Global will add the extra course fee to the student's account.
Free & Reduced Lunch Waiver
- Global Academy will provide one free class at a time to students who qualify for free lunch and submit this waiver.
- For students who qualify for reduced lunch, Global Academy will reduce the fee by half for one class at a time.
