Throughout the year, AZ-941 holds various events to establish comradery, Esprit de Corps, and basically have fun together. Each event is unique in its own way, from our Combat Dining-in, Operation Starlite, Military Ball (Mil Ball), and our annual Dining-out where our parents join us for a night of Air Force traditions and laughter. Each event is fun and helps bring the Corps together as a team. We encourage all of the cadets to participate and have fun!
Combat Dining-in: Our first event of the year is where cadets go to the AFJROTC building afterschool and complete various activities on the flooded soccer practice field. Each flight works together as a team and compete against the other flights, competing in events as low-crawling, wheelbarrow, and jump rope. All activities are designed to strengthen trust between cadets and team building skills.
Operation Starlite: Is an overnight JROTC event and simulate what active duty Air Force members would do if the campus was attacked. Cadets utilize walkie-talkies, fake weapons to defend their school from enemy attackers (senior cadets), throwing water balloons at them. Parents volunteer delivering food throughout the night and cooking breakfast in the morning for the cadets; however, parents are not allowed to participate in the event:)
Dining Out: Dining is a Air Force tradition that JROTC units partake in. This formal event is filled with Air Force traditions, dinner and various military activities. The parents of our cadets are welcome to attend this event and enjoy dinner and dance. This event is full of fun and excitement where great memories are made by all who attend.
Sports Day at Campo Verde High School: Cadets compete in various activities and games against other JROTC units. Cadets work together as a team to win the event. Sports day enforces the importance of teamwork, communication and determination, which creates a stronger bond within the Corps.
Military Ball (Mill Ball): AFJROTC's prom. Cadets are allowed to bring a date for a fun filled night with dinner and dancing.
Annual Softball Tournament: Held on a Saturday and played throughout the day. Flights compete against each other along with a Instructor/Parent team. The winner will have bragging rights for the next year and their flight will be recognized on a plaque in the classroom.
iFly Phoenix: Cadets get to enjoy the feeling of skydiving but indoors. This is a great STEM activity for all. The cadets have a GREAT time!
Texas Lonestar Drill Competition: Cadets traveled to San Antonio to post the colors and compete in rifle spinning among students from High School, College and post secondary participants.
USAFA Trip: Cadets travel to Colorado Springs to tour the US Air Force Academy, watch a football game, tailgate and meet Academy cadets. Great time by all!
Top Golf: Cadets get to work on their golf swing and enjoy the comradery of other cadets during this fun filled field trip. This event has become one of the cadets favorite.
