I grew up with a family of educators and decided that I too had a passion for teaching. In 2009, I returned to school at Iowa State and completed my degree in elementary education with endorsements in math and reading. This is my 15th year of teaching, and my 13th year in the Gilbert school district.
Being an educator is a privilege that I am proud to have each day that I come to work! One of my favorite things about teaching is watching a student grow in their thinking and become confident in their learning. Rita Pierson shared some very powerful words during a TED Talk. She said, "Every child deserves a champion: an adult who will never give up on them. Who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best they can possibly be." I hope every child in my classroom feels a positive connection and knows I believe in them and care for them!
