Year at a glance..

The overall big idea in 5th grade social studies is getting the learners to make connections.  Students will gain a better understanding of the world around them by making connections through a variety of informational text, current events, historical events, etc.  

Students will also continue to use maps, timelines, and charts; as well as briefly study types of government, with an emphasis on government at the state level.
