GAME PLAY POLICY
‘B’ teams
Teams will play 4 sets only or 1 ½ hour games – whatever comes first.
Teams will play triple ball for the first half of the season and will switch to ‘regular’ volleyball for the last half of the season
For the last half of the season teams will play a 5 serve maximum rule - One player may only serve five successful times in a row. At the completion of these five serves the serving team keeps the serve but will rotate so that the next player in the rotation will become the new server.
For the last half of the season players WILL NOT be allowed to receive the serve with a set.
Schools will tape to the floor a closer service line - 1 m in front of the endline - for players to serve from. They may not step on or over this line. Coaches are to use their discretion on which players need this line to serve. The purpose of this line is to instill more success for those players just learning the game.
Volleylites will be used by the ‘B’ teams for the entire season.
NET HEIGHT for ‘B’ girls is 2.05m and for ‘B’ boys will be 2.15m
TRIPLE BALL RULES AND GUIDELINES
All players must play in either the first set or the second set
There are no substitutions in the first or second set except in the case of injury
Substitutions are allowed in sets 3 and 4 with the understanding that ‘B’ volleyball is meant to develop young players and the coach should do his/her best to get the kids in as fair as possible
Triple ball format is as follows: Team ‘X’ serves to ‘Y’ and the point is played out. Team ‘Y’ receives the toss and the point is played out. Team ‘X’ receives the toss and the point is played out. Team ‘Y’ rotates and will then serve to Team ‘X’.
Coaches (or team helper) will toss to their own teams.
The coach (or team helper) must come onto the court to toss the ball over the net.
The ball must be tossed high and over the antennae.
The ball must be tossed to position #6 BEHIND the attack line.
No setting a serve or toss.
In the event a player does set off the toss or serve, the referee can give a reserve/re-toss. (no more than one chance)
All front row players from both teams must be at the net during the toss. This simulates a ‘free’ ball situation as well as blocking for the defenders.
Time outs are allowed in all 4 sets. Timeouts can only be called in between a three ball sequence. (before a serve)
Substitutions in sets 3 and 4 can only be called in between a three ball sequence. (before a serve)
DIVISIONALS
All ‘A’ teams qualify.
