JUNIOR HIGH ELIGIBILITY GENERAL POLICY
It is suggested that grade 9 students only play on ‘A’ teams but special circumstances will be dealt with on a case by case basis. Schools are to please notify all the other schools of any situation involving a grade 9 player on a ‘B’ team.
Grade 5 or 6 players may play on ‘B’ teams if the following conditions are met:
the grade 5 and 6 students are used to help create a ‘B’ team in that the ‘B’ team must have at least one grade 7 student on it - the ‘B’ team CANNOT be solely made of grade 5s and 6s
the school is 1J (2J schools will need permission from the league to use grade 6s - no grade 5s may be used by 2J schools)
JUNIOR HIGH ZONES QUALIFYING (will be revamped during 2025/26 school year due to new zone policy)
2 teams at the 1J/2J/3J level
Look at the games between the 2 teams and determine who is 1st (may use points for and against for this)
First place team host the second place team on a predetermined evening
Cost of officials split between the teams (including host)
Games will need to be played to allow time for zone host to prepare with proper zone qualifiers name - these dates will be determined at the league meeting
3 teams at the 1J/2J/3J level
Use head-to-head league play to determine placing
Based on head-to-head league play, 2nd plays 3rd at 2nd place team’s gym (split cost of officials)
Winner of above game plays 1st in league play (split cost of officials)
Games will need to be played on consecutive nights to allow time for zone host to prepare with proper zone qualifiers name – these dates will be determined at the league meeting
4 teams at a 1J/2J/3J level
Use head-to-head league play to determine placing
Based on head-to-head league play, 1st plays 4th at 1st place team’s gym (split cost of officials) and 2nd plays 3rd at 2nd place team’s gym (split cost of officials)
Winners of above play the deciding game at the higher seed’s gym (based on league standings) (split cost of officials)
Games will need to be played on consecutive nights to allow time for zone host to prepare with proper zone qualifiers name – these dates will be determined at the league meeting
