ESSA Data Review
ESSA requires states to support a school-level data review based on the measures included in the accountability index. To address this requirement, all schools identified in need of Comprehensive, Extended Comprehensive, Targeted or Extended Targeted Support and Improvement are required to complete a Data Review in Year One: Planning (first year of designation). It is highly recommended that schools complete the Data Review annually. Results of the Data Review will provide designated schools with a Priority Content Area.
It is important to note the following before accessing the Data Review, or online module:
Building Leadership Teams are required to complete and submit the ESSA Data Review:
Including the following members as part of the team: Principal, School Leaders, Teachers, Parents and others such as community partners, school counselors, AEA representatives, students, district office representation, and board members (bold are required).
Due within CASA by June 30, 2024;
Designated schools may elect to complete the data review:
On their own via the online module; or
With support via the Network through direct onsite support.
The following resources are provided to help school leadership teams complete the ESSA Data Review requirements:
Iowa School Performance Profile. This site provides the data needed to complete the ESSA Data Review. It also contains guides to help teams understand data collection, analysis and interpretation of the data.
Iowa School Performance Profile (ISPP) Data Review. This guide provides teams background and steps to complete the Data Review requirements for Comprehensive and Targeted schools.
The Data Review must be submitted in the Consolidated Application for Support and Accountability (CASA), which is a secure application under the Iowa Education Portal. Instructions for CASA access can be found on the CASA web page. Please note that a team member with building level access to CASA will be required submit.
A self-paced online module is available for local team use at Iowa Learning Online Professional Development (https://ilopd.iowa.gov/). To create an account:
Access https://ilopd.iowa.gov/, and select Create New Account
Enter your email
Create a password
Look for an email from ilopd to confirm your new account
Once confirmed, you may enroll in ESSA courses.
