ESSA requires states to support a school-level data review based on the measures included in the accountability index. To address this requirement, all schools identified in need of Comprehensive or Targeted Support and Improvement are required to complete a Data Review in in the first year of designation. It is highly recommended that schools complete the Data Review annually. Results of the Data Review will provide designated schools with a Priority Content Area.
It is important to note the following before accessing the Data Review, or online module:
Building Leadership Teams are required to complete and submit the ESSA Data Review:
Including the following members as part of the team: Principal, School Leaders, Teachers, Parents and others such as community partners, school counselors, AEA representatives, students, district office representation, and board members (bold are required).
Due within CASA;
Designated schools may elect to complete the data review:
On their own via the online module; or
With support via the IDOE or AEA.
The following resources are provided to help school leadership teams complete the ESSA Data Review requirements:
Iowa School Performance Profile. This site provides the data needed to complete the ESSA Data Review. It also contains guides to help teams understand data collection, analysis and interpretation of the data.
Iowa School Performance Profile (ISPP) Data Review Guide and Table. The guide provides teams background and steps to complete the Data Review requirements for Comprehensive and Targeted schools. The Table should be used to record data and notes. *Please note participation is included in the table to be noted by schools even though it does not carry a point value.
The Data Review must be submitted in the Consolidated Application for Support and Accountability (CASA), which is a secure application under the Iowa Education Portal. Instructions for CASA access can be found on the CASA web page. Please note that a team member with building level access to CASA will be required submit.

Create a password
Look for an email from ilopd to confirm your new account
