Places and Websites to find books
With everything up in the air right now, it may be difficult to find books to read. Below are some options where you can shop in person and order books online.
Orange County Public Libraries
The Orange County Public Libraries: Contactless curbside pickup is available for current full-service library cardholders. If your parent or guardian has an electronic library card (eCard) or their library card is lost or expired, please have them call any library branch for assistance. Click these links to have a parent or guardian apply for a library card or this one for an ecard. This is a list for all of the libraries ebook resources and this is the kids site.
Libby by Overdrive
If your parent or guardian already has a card for the Orange County Public Libraries, you can download the app for Libby by Overdrive for quicker access to ebooks.
Open Library
Open Library is an online archive of books you can read directly from your computer screen. You will need to sign up for an account, so get your parent or guardian's permission before you sign up.
Scholastic Reading Club
If you would like to order from the Scholastic monthly flyers and your teacher DOES NOT use this service, you can email me for my class code for online ordering. All the orders I receive will help me buy books for the school library when it eventually reopens.
Amazon.com
Of course you can order books from amazon, but did you know that you can also listen to books for free on audible? You can also download free books you can read on the kindle app.
Barnes & Noble
Barnes & Noble is open for in person shopping with social distancing and face masks required. You can also shop online and pick up in store a few hours later. You can also read free books on your tablet from the Barnes & Noble nook app.
Thriftbooks.com
Thriftbooks is an online store for used books. Most books cost around $4-$6 and ship for free.
