Project Description:

Hi!! You are going to make a Google Webpage utilizing each chapter of the book! All the activities we will do will be uploaded onto a google website. You can create one through your google drive. If you are fancy, you can do a non-google one. This will go in as a 100 pt summative writing grade. You will not turn in til the very end. That does not mean wait til the very end - do a task every day.

Task:

Tuesday: Chapter 1: You are going to dress up like a character in the first chapter. You have several characters to choose from. Obviously you will probably not have the clothes from the 1920s but you definitely can dress sophisticated. Take a picture of yourself and write a 100-150 article on the fashion of the Gatsby time period. On the web page include your pic!

Wednesday: Chapter 2: Ooh, the scandal emerges. Other women.. Sad husbands… TJ Eckleberg and the Valley of the Ashes. You are going to create a tweet, facebook, or Instagram profile for a Gossip in the town who is aware of the scandal that surrounds Tom. Post messages from every character in chapter 2 and what they would say. You will include this for your chapter 2 activity. You can find some templates online or create your own.

Thursday: Chapter 3: Partay partay. Music and food make up the two most important things at a Gatsby party.. Well maybe the alcohol, but that’s illegal so we are sticking to the legal items. Find a great artist of this time period and a youtube link. Include this in your webpage along with a brief description of what the artist was like. The second thing you will do is spill your best family recipe and make it! You can include a video of you making the item, the finished product, I’ll leave it up to you. Include your recipe on the webpage.

Friday: Chapter 4: The man, the myth, the legend. We find out the history of Gatsby in this one. Find an online picture of Gatsby (there are a ton) and list 10 facts that we know about Gatsby’s history. Who is this man? Who are his associates? Pull primarily from this chapter but you can use other chapters if you are coming up short.

Web Task:

Monday: Chapter 5: The love story. The tension. The looks. Gatsby finally sees his girl. What do you look for in the perfect mate? Write down 10 traits of the type of person you look for. Include a pic of a celebrity crush as well.

Tuesday: Chapter 6: Time to impress with your dance skills. You are going to learn the Charleston and record yourself dancing. Here is a youtube link: How To Video . This video walks you through the steps. You can also look for other ones through youtube. Also, read the two poems about flappers here and write a quick analysis about what is says about the women of the times. Feel free to reference Chapter 6.

Wednesday: Chapter 7: The affair is out. The mistress is dead. So many things in a chapter. You have two options, either write a gossip column (150-200 words) about the affair coming to light or a death notice about Myrtle (150-200 words). Attach a picture to the story you choose to go with.

Thursday: Chapter 8: Life is passing. People are moving on. Chapter 8 captures the memories of Gatsby and his life. Take 12 photos that showcase a day in your life. Small captions are helpful. Be creative. Create your life story.

Friday: Chapter 9: Death and Despair. Look up a famous murder from the past create fact sheet of the crime. If you want to be creative, include a wanted poster of the murderer. Feel free to add pictures. Try to find a death or scandal before the 1950’s.
