In 2023, approximately 1 in 5 teens, aged 12-17, had a mental health diagnosis, with the most frequent conditions being anxiety (16.1%) and depression (8.4%) (Sappenfield et al., 2024)
The rate of teen mental and behavioral health diagnoses has grown from 2016 to 2023 (15.0% to 20.3%), with the rates of anxiety diagnoses (10.0% to 16.1%) and depression diagnoses (5.8% to 8.4%) increasing as well (Sappenfield et al., 2024).
