In year 10 after developing acting and dance skills students complete an internally assessed unit (50%) ‘Working with Masks’. During this unit students understand the use of masks in performances and develop skills to design, create and use in practice.
Using masks, current year 10 students will be creating a performance of ‘The Tempest’. This will include acting, dance and live music. They will then perform to a Junior School audience.

In year 11 students take an externally assessed core unit, Live Performance (50%).

You have been approached by a large charity who are looking for actors and dancers to take part in a national touring theatre production with the theme of ‘Conflict and Peace’. Working with others prepare an audition between 4 – 10 minutes that showcases your skills as an actor or dancer and shows the theme of ‘Conflict and Peace’.
You have 30 hours to complete the evidence for the unit. This includes:

Both units are assessed as either, Pass, Merit or Distinction. Points are awarded for each grade. These are added together to arrive at final grade- Pass, Merit or Distinction. If a student gained a Merit and a Distinction in the two units they would achieve a Distinction.
