COURSE OUTLINE:
English Literature will be studied from Years 9 to 11, focusing on texts from the 17th to the 21st century. This will include a study of a Shakespeare play; a classic 19th century text; a modern novel or play and a range of poems from different centuries. The course is assessed by exam only and has no coursework element. As well as the study of the texts, pupils will be taught how to write effective essays, focusing on evidence retrieval and clear analytical comment. English Literature will be taught alongside the English Language course.
