We're so glad you could join us here in the world of Temple's Visual and Performing Arts classes. Temple enjoys a rich tradition of highly creative, student-driven arts experiences, and that tradition will continue.
We are pleased to be able to once again offer a variety of courses in Music, Theatre, Media and the Fine Arts as we return to in-person schooling. Our Department has worked closely with the District and State to ensure that we can resume our program in a safe manner, and still provide you with a solid arts education.
We look forward to working with all of our students this year. No matter what your previous experiences may have been with the arts, there will be something interesting and exciting for you to work on at a level with which you are comfortable. Eventually, we do hope to challenge you to go beyond that comfort level, and really set your sights high. Only then can you make those important breakthroughs and uncover your hidden talents.
Ready? Let's get started.
Below are some images of past Performing Arts productions and activities, including Drama, Choir, and Band performances, rehearsals, workshops and field trips. Enjoy!
ART & GRAPHIC DESIGN
Ms Benavidez have been teaching in the Garvey School District since 2007, and is currently teaching Art & Graphic Design for the 2021-2022 school year! She holds both a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and a Single Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Fullerton
THEATRE, JOURNALISM & MEDIA ARTS
Now in my 25th year of teaching at Temple Intermediate, I am a product of both the UCLA and CSULA Theatre Arts Departments. After years spent in the professional theatre, I was encouraged to turn my passion and expertise to the field of education, and I have never looked back. Working with the students at Temple has been the most rewarding experience of my life, and I take great pride in the amazing work our students produce each year. Besides, it's great fun!
MUSIC, BAND & CHOIR
It was the Fall of 2004 that I introduced my first group of vocalists and musicians to the incredible world of music. Seventeen years later, that excitement and passion has yet to diminish. I perform professionally as a solo pianist and with several bands, and hold a Masters Degree in Afro-Latin Music. It has been the honor of my life in helping to turn timid 7th graders into confident, bold young men and women through the power of the performing arts.
