Mrs. Poindexter began playing flute in 2005 under the tutelage of an incredible teacher that also happened to be her mother, Mrs. Tawana Box. She followed the expected path of a band student, participating in every ensemble she could get experience in: band class, jazz band, flute choir, marching band, honor bands, and orchestra. She spent four years continuing to develop as a musician at Tennessee Tech University, graduating summa cum laude with her instrumental K-12 music education certification. Her flute professor, Dr. Roger Martin, put a lot of emphasis on working hard, finding joy in playing, and building on successes. She followed her university experience with teaching six years of elementary music, one year of middle school choir, and is looking forward to years of helping flute players of all ages find joy and improvement.
When she's not teaching, you may find her spending her days with her husband, Mr. Brant Poindexter and son, learning to find life's rhythms as a family of three (six if you count the dogs).
