Front Range Community College

The Geospatial Experience Center

The Geospatial Experience Center or GeoEx Center at Front Range Community College was created to develop a highly skilled and diverse geospatial workforce. The Center’s goal is to reduce the employment barrier students face due to lack of experience by offering students the opportunity to work on real-world geospatial projects. Participation will help students gain essential skills in project management, effective communication, critical thinking, professionalism, quantitative reasoning and technology literacy — all core student learning outcomes at Front Range Community College.

Students are paired with local, state, and federal government agencies, geospatial companies and other college departments, to execute geospatial projects. After a student has been paired with a project partner, the student will schedule an initial meeting to review the project scope, timeline, communication protocol, data management plan, roles and responsibilities. After the initial meeting, students will meet their workforce partner to provide a progress update. Once complete, students will be able to add the project outcomes to their resume and portfolio.
