Leadership is one of the three Cardinal Principles of Alpha Phi Omega. As a national organization, Alpha Phi Omega strives to develop our members as leaders through service to others. This approach builds the leadership skills of our members while fulfilling a need on campuses and in communities, therefore leaving a lasting impact on our nation.
Alpha Phi Omega develops the leadership skills of its members through shared leadership. Our members have the opportunity to serve as a chapter officer or to plan and execute any number of volunteer projects and social programs, as well as have the chance to participate in a variety of leadership development programs sponsored by Alpha Phi Omega. Additionally, Alpha Phi Omega facilitates educational programs to help guide our members through the process of becoming leaders and improving current leadership skills.
Each semester, every brother is given an equitable opportunity to run for a position (no matter how much time they have in our organization).
Every brother is also given an opportunity to apply for an appointed position under an executive board officer every semester!
One of the most important leadership roles in our organization is our Leadership Coordinator. This individual oversees all leadership initiatives and leads an MD.
Every semester, each brother needs to engage in one type of service committee. Every brother is given an opportunity to step up and chair a committee if they have an idea in mind for a service project or if they just want to take on the leadership role of an existing committee.
Every Thursday and Sundays, New Members engage in the process of Membership development. MDs are meant to help foster growth and promote our three main pillars: Leadership, Friendship, and Service.
Lastly, we practice civic responsibility through the service projects we carry out. By being a brother in APO, you are automatically a leader in our community!
