Dear Parents,

We certainly are living in extra-ordinary times, in future years new generations of students will be discussing this current crisis in their History lessons, they will discuss the way the world has changed because of it. They will probably talk about the way it changed education, how technology evolved to cope with the different ways of learning but more importantly they will discuss the impact on the young people.

Young people are extraordinary, they evolve much faster than grown ups they can adapt to new scenarios and they find technology simple to use. We do need to be mindful though that despite their resilience, and their adaptability, that they still need to be looked after. They still struggle with isolation, they miss their friends, they like to run around, to laugh and play.

Young people have to deal with a lot, as you may have read recently a second examination board (Edexcel) has decided to cancel it’s summer examinations and this will have a huge impact on students preparing for these examinations. At WSR we are busy collating information so that we can prepare our students and support them through this difficult situation. We have a team of staff, from counsellors, tutors, pastoral leads through to senior leaders who are here to support and guide students through the process. With your support at home our students will get the complete wraparound support that they need in this unprecedented time.

Regards,

Mr. Martin Poveda
