Summary of learning:

Revision of subject verb agreement, active and passive voice and character description to prepare students for the review tasks. First round of spelling bee competition was conducted this week.

Tasks to be completed:

Read till chapter 20 from the story “To Kill a Mockingbird”. Makes notes on description of characters as new characters are introduced.

Biology

Summary of learning - This week in Biology students studied the structure and function of the main types of neurones and the role of neurotransmitters and synapses in transmitting impulses across junctions between neurones (textbook pages 86-87, 92-93).

Tasks to be completed - Students should complete questions 7-9 on pages 96-97 of their textbook. They should complete these questions in their note book and submit their responses to their Biology teacher on Google Classroom.

Chemistry

Summary of learning - This week in Chemistry students discussed the relationship between the bulk mass of a substance and the number of atoms or molecules it contains (moles). Given the chemical formula of the substance, students were able to determine the amount of the substance (moles) from its mass, and vice versa. They finally explored how to apply these principles in order to derive the chemical formulae of unknown substances from experimental mass measurements (textbook pages 51-54).

Tasks to be completed - Students should complete questions 9-11 on page 61 of their textbook. They should complete these questions in their note book and submit their responses to their Chemistry teacher on Google Classroom.

Physics

Summary of learning - This week in Physics students studied the structure of a transformer and its function. They learned how to differentiate between step up and step down transformers and how transformers are used in high voltage transmission e.g over head cables (textbook pages 214-218).

Tasks to be completed - Students should complete questions 4-5 and 7 on page 218-219 of their textbook. They should complete these questions in their note book and submit their responses to their Physics teacher on Google Classroom.
