Dear WSR,

The National Day of UAE is celebrated on 2nd December every year, this marks the day when the emirates united together at Union House to form the United Arab Emirates in 1971. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was the first president of UAE.

The theme for 49th UAE National day is named "Seeds of the Union", inspired by the UAE’s history and values.

"The overarching theme is one of hope and optimism. Embracing the country’s rich legacy and traditions, it looks ahead to a vivid future in which the UAE will remain true to its values.

This theme depicts the growth and transformation of a seed into a shoot and then finally into full bloom, mirroring the journey that the UAE has taken in the last 49 years.

National Day is an opportunity to recognise 49 years of unity between the seven emirates and to embrace the country’s spirit and values.

National Day brings together its multitude of nationalities in united celebration of inclusivity and tolerance.

In December 1971, the rulers of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al-Ain, Ajman, Sharjah, & Umm al-Quwain decided to unite and laid down the idea of UAE. Later in February 1972, Ras Al Khaimah joined them and become a single unit.

The UAE National Day stands for UAE Union Day when the anniversary of the union between the six emirates on 2nd December 1971 is celebrated.

On Sunday we will celebrate National day as a WSR Community, to celebrate UAE culture and celebrate the country, which we now call home. Although we maybe from counties all over the world we are here together as One Tribe One Family.

Dear Parents,

Next week the theme of the Week is Commemoration day and National Day.

Commemoration Day recognises the sacrifices and dedication of Emirati martyrs, who have given their lives in the UAE and abroad in the field of civil, military and humanitarian service. This year, it is being observed on 1st December across the UAE.

It is a day to remember and honour those who have given their lives for the UAE, it is a time for us to remember the families of those who have been martyred and show them that the UAE has not forgotten them or their sacrifice.

On 30th November, the UAE flag will be lowered across the country at 8.00 am and will remain lowered until 11.30 am. Students and staff can wear military, service or traditional outfits.

National Day in the UAE is celebrated with great fervor and zeal. There are a number of festivities that take place on the 2nd of December in the UAE to mark the unification of the Emirates in the Gulf. This is majorly why people do not ever forget to send greetings to their loved ones like friends and family.

This gesture brings people closer together and also sparks up the spirit of patriotism in them. UAE is a land of great culture and it holds true in every sense and affair that takes place in the region.

Let us cherish and celebrate the glory of this country together.

Warm Regards,
