Week Seven - October 11th, 2024
Dear Parents & Guardians,
This past week, our school embraced Mental Wellness Week, highlighting the significance of maintaining a balanced and healthy mind. Through engaging activities such as a grit and resilience workshop, social media discussions, and wellbeing scavenger hunts, students and staff had the opportunity to explore various ways to nurture their mental well-being. The week served as a valuable reminder that prioritizing self-care, practicing empathy, and building resilience are essential to overall health. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this week impactful and inspiring, especially Ms Alisha, Mr Lewis and our senior students who acted as helpers!
Additionally, we hosted two Parent ConnectEd sessions that also focused on grit & resilience as well as Digital Wellness, which provided insightful resources to support well-being at home. Our guest speakers from Vivemus, Dr Shane Mulligan, Jackie Greenwood and Helena Gil Martin shared some excellent advice to parents.
This week, Mr. Simon and I had the privilege of interviewing the candidates for President and Vice President of the incoming StuELT. It’s always one of my favorite moments of the year, as I’m consistently impressed by the confidence with which our students engage in conversations with their Principal and Head of Secondary. Their thoughtful responses, maturity, and genuine desire to make a positive impact on our school are truly commendable. A huge well done to all of the candidates! We look forward to announcing the positions each team member will take on for the upcoming 12 months next week.
Our canteen was filled with warmth and connection as Grade 12 families came together for the final Potluck celebration for this year. The event created a welcoming space for parents to socialize, share stories, and immerse themselves in the vibrant community spirit that our school fosters. Students were excited to introduce their families to friends and teachers, while a delicious spread of cultural dishes brought everyone together. A big thank you goes to Mr. Lewis, Mr. Conor and the entire Grade 12 Homeroom team for their hard work in organizing this great event!
Have a wonderful week ahead.
Kind regards
Ms Amanda
Head of Secondary School
