Week Twenty-Eight - April 14th, 2023
Kim Conlin
Head of Primary
Dear PYP Parents,
We trust everyone had a wonderful spring break. It has been great to see everyone back at school.
Please be reminded that Ramadan hours will continue next week. Thursday and Friday are national holidays to celebrate Eid Al Fitr, and there will not be school on these days.
A huge thank-you for the staff and parents involved in putting on the wonderful Ifar at school on Wednesday. It was a great way to connect and break fast together. We also want to thank everyone for contributing to the Iftar bags that were distributed to students today allowing them to take action to distribute amongst their community. We are still accepting clothing and monetary donations (for food) as part of the Spirit of Ramadan initiatives.
Have a wonderful weekend.

In the spirit of Ramadan, we would like to invite you to join us in spreading love and kindness in our community. GIS has arranged a donation campaign for a labor meal through Dar Al Bir Society. We are collecting monetary donations to buy and distribute meals to those in need who may be working during Iftar or in the street. To show appreciation for their hard work, you are invited to participate in the donation for the food drive and distribution of meals if you wish. The donation boxes will also be in the main reception and secondary reception. With these monetary donations, we will purchase meals. The meal distribution will be on Tuesday, April 18, at 4:30 pm in Ibrahim Khaleel Masjid. Here is the location link https://maps.app.goo.gl/Wnku3nPqtdwfMcv88
Parents & students are welcome to join. Students are to be in the school uniform as we will take a group picture at the end inshallah.
GIS Islamic department
At GIS, we firmly believe that developing a love for language is key to mastering any language. To this end, we utilize a range of instructional techniques in our Arabic classes, such as both individual and group-based activities, as well as hands-on learning exercises using playdough, flashcards, puzzles, and more. These activities help our students learn and practice the language while honing their ATL (Approaches to Learning) skills, which are essential components of the IB PYP (Primary Years Programme) curriculum. Through these engaging and effective methods, we aim to nurture our students' passion for Arabic and help them achieve fluency in the language. Please visit the Arabic Primary Pages to read and see what is happening in your child's Arabic class.
