Week Twenty Three - March 14th, 2025
Dear Parents,
Ramadan Kareem hope you are well. The highlight of the week was the wonderful community Iftar. Thank you to Ms Lauren, Ms Helen G, Ms Nomah, Ms Rasha and Ms Sarah for a superb community gathering. The students at the event were a credit to the school, going from table to table asking questions relevant to Ramadan. I admire all those in our community who are fasting and I send you my very best wishes through to the end of Ramadan.
My thanks to Ms Meena who has been delivering university application assemblies for our Grade 11s across the last four weeks (Canada, UK, US, Netherlands, rest of Europe etc). This week Ms Meena delivered a really helpful presentation for our Grade 11 students. Application processes for the UK have changed, so this clarity was really well received. I should add, that on the subject of universities, the University of Cambridge has issued guidance for CP students. It is really good to know that the most esteemed universities in the UK see the value of the excellent CP pathway.
Finally, I would like to thank Ms Hannah Kelly, our Head of Safeguarding, for her incredible preparation for our Safeguarding Compliance Visit this week, conducted by GEMS Head of Safeguarding, Ms Claire Scowen. Claire was really impressed by the evidence, which was reflected by what she saw and who she spoke to (including students) on the day. Nothing is more important than keeping our students safe and I am grateful to all staff, and in particular the safeguarding team led by Ms Hannah, for their hard work.
Kind regards, and have a good weekend,

The Country Ambassador program was launched in 2021 with the intention of helping connect families with their motherland tongue and country. Small community sub groups have been created to help integrate new families from these specific countries as they enroll at GIS. We encourage you to join your country group via the QR code.
Although as a whole, we are one big family, it’s always nice to connect with those from our country. Ultimately, the goal is to have at least ONE representative for each country.
If you see that your country or ambassador is not listed and you are interested in representing your country, please reach out to us via email at gispa@gemsisak.com
Our Iranian, Egyptian and Latino parents have already started to welcome returning and new parents on a nice breakfast gathering.
We encourage all GIS communities to get together and keep us posted.
From 20th February GIS house color t-shirts and swim wear will be available to purchase from threads.
Please see below the current Slices menu.
