Week Twenty Two - March 7th, 2025
Dear Parents,
I hope that you are well. I am delighted to announce the result of our recent Health and Safety audit. We have been awarded a score of 99%, our highest ever. I would like to thank Mr Ranjit, Mr Maninder, all our Operations and Facilities staff, Ms Hadeel who chairs our H & S Committee and everyone at GIS for their dedication to keeping our community healthy and safe.
Ms Sarah, our Head of Primary, presented a webinar this week, extolling the virtues of an IB PYP education. Ms Sarah gave clarity on all aspects of the IB PYP, from feedback, homework, finding one’s passion, through to the overall IB transdisciplinary, inquiry-led journey. The prospective parents on the call were very grateful to have such clear details.
A school year is punctuated by key events, and one of my favourites is always the annual Visual Arts Exhibition. I visited this on Monday in our Senior Hub and was so impressed by the artwork displayed and also the students’ analysis and presentation of their pieces. My thanks to the students, their teacher, Ms Melanie, and Head of Department, Ms Emma.
I was privileged to be invited to a business pitch by Reyansh M and Amber D (both Grade 11 members of our wonderful Tareeqi pathway). I would like to thank their teachers and also to Amber and Reyansh for the chocolate!
Finally, I was so proud on Wednesday to hear the words of BridgeWay International leaders, Mr and Mrs Haley, who spoke so highly of the GIS interns. Mr and Mrs Haley explained why they thought our Grade 10 and 11 interns were simply the best they have ever encountered, thanks to the students’ critical thinking, creativity and confidence. Mr Haley told us that he even gave them his business plan for the company to hear their opinions! I am so grateful to BridgeWay and Mr Sean and Ms Jeanette in particular for their generosity in inviting students from GIS in the first place to undertake internships, and for then providing our students with cheques for their future university education.
Kind regards, Ramadan Kareem and have a good weekend,

Grade 12 photos will be on Tuesday, March 11th. These photos will be available for families to purchase and will also be featured in the yearbook.
The Country Ambassador program was launched in 2021 with the intention of helping connect families with their motherland tongue and country. Small community sub groups have been created to help integrate new families from these specific countries as they enroll at GIS. We encourage you to join your country group via the QR code.
Although as a whole, we are one big family, it’s always nice to connect with those from our country. Ultimately, the goal is to have at least ONE representative for each country.
If you see that your country or ambassador is not listed and you are interested in representing your country, please reach out to us via email at gispa@gemsisak.com
Our Iranian, Egyptian and Latino parents have already started to welcome returning and new parents on a nice breakfast gathering.
We encourage all GIS communities to get together and keep us posted.
From 20th February GIS house color t-shirts and swim wear will be available to purchase from threads.
