Week Twenty Two - March 7th, 2025
Dear GIS Primary Families,
I hope this message finds you well. We have had a fantastic week in PYP, with our students engaged in rich learning experiences, demonstrating curiosity, collaboration, and a commitment to their growth. It is always a pleasure to see their enthusiasm and dedication in the classroom.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your support at our Welcome Ramadan event last week. It was truly special to see our community come together in celebration, fostering the spirit of reflection, generosity, and unity that this holy month brings. Your participation made the event even more meaningful for our students.
As we continue through Ramadan, we appreciate your ongoing support with the adjusted school hours. Your understanding and cooperation help ensure a smooth and positive experience for all our students during this important time.
Thank you for being such a vital part of our school community. Wishing you and your families a blessed and peaceful Ramadan.
Community Iftar – Payment Reminder: For those who have signed up for our Community Iftar on March 12, please remember that payments must be completed directly with The Westin Mina Seyahi before March 11 to confirm your participation. We look forward to sharing this special evening with many of you.
Thank you for your continued support and for being part of our wonderful GIS community. Wishing you all a restful weekend and a blessed start to Ramadan!
Warm regards,
Sarah McLean
We are thrilled to share some fantastic news! On February 22, 2025, Suleyman Sadikhov from Grade 3F competed in the UAE Wrestling Competition held in Abu Dhabi. Known for his talents in judo and men's artistic gymnastics, Suleyman bravely took on the new challenge of wrestling with only one practice session beforehand.
His hard work paid off as he earned a bronze medal in the U10 category. In addition to his medal, Suleyman won a cash prize, and to celebrate his success, he treated his classmates and teachers to donuts!
Parents have all received a notification to sign up for the Toddle platform. This is an exciting enhancement to our parent communication, and this year you will receive weekly updates through the Toddle platform.
This IB affiliated platform will offer opportunities for parents to remain up to date with their child's academic progress.
The below class pages will host resources for parents and will no longer have weekly messages. All information will be sent through Toddle, so please inform your class teacher if you have any trouble registering.
Any absence (whether it is planned or unplanned ) must be communicated via email to the homeroom teacher and gis_primaryleaverequest@gemsedu.com by 8:00 AM. STS/bus users must also copy the STS manger on the email. vijesh.kumar@sts-group.com
A planned or extended absence beyond 2 days requires the completion of an absence request form.
Absence for more than 3 days requires prior approval if planned or a doctors clearance for illness related leave (in some cases a medical certificate is requested )
Parents are urged to schedule medical, dental and other appointments after school hours or during vacations.
A request must be submitted before a child can be released once in school for health and safety and reasons.
Filling in the form 24hrs in advance is expected where possible.
At the time of collection, please come to the Primary Reception at Gate 4.
