Please ensure all contact details and student/parent photos are updated on GEMS Connect before your first day of school
Slices are delighted to have integrated the Slices cashless system in the GEMS Parent Portal / GEMS Connect App. The system is designed for ease of use and to host all the relevant data in one space to make life easier for the parent and student community.
Parents can top up and view consumption through GEMS Parent Portal https://connect.gemseducation.com/. All student data is held in this portal without the need to create a secondary account.
Catering Payment is accessed from the ‘shopping’ drop-down option then 'catering'
Parents can top up via credit or debit card through the system and balances will be immediately available for student spend
Parents can also use the cash top up facility in school, and this will be reflected in the parent portal catering balance
Parents can check recent catering balance top up history from the fees drop down options
Transaction history will be updated to allow parents to review their child's daily spend

Kind reminder to ensure students accounts have enough credit loaded so they do not face issues purchasing food.
Students are encouraged to bring a packed lunch to school, ensuring that they have sufficient and appropriate food to sustain them throughout the school day. A balanced approach to eating is also encouraged to support sustained energy levels and focus during lessons.
"Drinking water and staying hydrated increased children’s ability to multitask and improved their reaction times" (https://neuroscience.illinois.edu/news/2019-11-14/water-helps-kids-focus-improves-ability-multitask-study).
All students are requested to bring a refillable water bottle to school, which can be topped up during break and lunch periods to sustain them throughout the day and during lesson periods. This limits the need for students to leave the classroom and also discourages the use of non-reusable plastics.
MYP students are not permitted to purchase or consume caffeinated (or hot) drinks while on campus. This includes before and after school hours.
If students wish to make use of Slices (the in-school catering service) please note that:
Visits to the canteens are only permitted during break and lunch periods. Consequently, the canteens can become quite busy and students will need to queue patiently to place and receive their order.
Advanced orders may be placed for swift collection during break and lunch breaks.
It is advisable to place advanced orders on a weekly basis. For example, orders for the following week (Monday to Friday) could be submitted on each Friday.
