Programme of Inquiry
The Programme of Inquiry (POI) is like a roadmap of your child's learning adventure in the PYP from PreK to Grade 5. It shows you the transdisciplinary themes your child will explore throughout the year, along with the big ideas (i.e., central ideas) that anchor each theme. These central ideas help spark your child's curiosity and encourage them to ask questions, learn about the world around them, and see how everything is connected.

Welcome back to our returning families and welcome to our new families. I will be the PYP Coordinator in Early Childhood this year. I am originally from Liverpool in the UK but I have been living here in the UAE for 14 years. When I am not at school I love exploring the UAE with my two dogs or travelling the world visiting new places. I look forward to working closely with our GIS community to support learning during the year ahead.

My educational journey began as a youth worker and evolved into a teaching career at London's schools for Individual Needs, where I honed my passion for personalized teaching and inclusivity. I pursued international teaching in prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) schools in Hong Kong, taking on leadership roles. Today, as the PYP coordinator at GIS, I am committed to creating engaging learning experiences for young students and fostering a positive educational environment for all.

I have worked as an educator in the UAE for the last 11 years and specialize in the IB curriculum. I have taught lower and upper elementary grades, led multiple grade-level teams, and been head of PYP mathematics both in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. A California native, I am passionate about sustainability, fitness and animals and have 3 dogs and 2 cats spread across 2 continents.
I look forward to meeting and working with our GIS community throughout the year.
