In terms of popularity, more than 1 in 3 students have so far purchased Chromebooks and demand is clearly growing as the availability of Chromebooks is becoming less and less in this region, as evidenced by many vendors being sold out of these devices.
Chromebooks can be sourced from many vendors.
GFM has two supplier options for you to choose your preferred device.
When you purchase with them, you have a device manufacturer warranty for 12 months or 3 years and the Google device management license is already enrolled on the device within the same price.
Whilst you are free to choose your own device from a range of Chromebook devices available online, we have identified a device which we believe will fulfil all the criteria to enhance your child’s digital learning experience as well as affordability.
This is the Acer model Spin 511 or the ASUS CR11 Flip:
• It is a device which has a display which is touchscreen with a stylus.
• It has a keyboard which can be fully rotated (for tablet mode use).
• The screen display offers a 16:9 screen ratio with an 11-inch display.

Chromebooks purchased from other than our suggested Google Partner, Learn IT, must have an official device management license and Google Workspace account which costs 173 AED in total. This is to ensure effective device management, Please click on the link below to find out more and purchase the license: Click here to buy the Chromebook license only.
However, please note, when considering bringing in your own Chromebook, please note that the Chrome Education Upgrade license is active for the lifetime of the Chromebook. If the Chromebook is old and will stop working for any reason, the license will cease to exist as well. In this event, if parents then wish to purchase a new Chromebook, they will have to purchase a new licence as well.
In order to provide you with a school licence, we need you to power wash the device (any old usernames or settings should be erased). You can refer to the below link for guidance: https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/183084?hl=en
Factory reset your Chromebook in these 4 steps:
Sign out of your Chromebook.
Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r.
Select Restart.
In the box that appears, select Powerwash & Continue.
Note: please do not use the device for any purpose after power wash.
Also note, the GFM Technology Team can power wash your device for you but is not responsible for any content/settings saved on the device prior to Powerwash.
We will support this phase by informing students of their allocated day to bring in their device following which they will be informed once the device is ready to be collected. We appreciate your patience and support through this phase.
The Chromebook licence will be removed from the Chromebook, so the school no longer manages it.
The device will then becomes a normal personal computer:
