Chrome Education Upgrade License
The Chrome Education Upgrade helps schools manage and keep Chromebooks safe for students. It lets the school control apps, websites, and security settings on each Chromebook. This means kids can focus on learning, and parents can feel better knowing their schoolwork is secure.
To utilize a Chromebook with the school's management system, you will need a Chrome Education Upgrade License.
Before purchasing a standalone Chrome Education Upgrade license, please consider the following
If you prefer to use an existing Chromebook, it must meet the following minimum specifications (or be comparable to the Acer R756TN): 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, and a quad-core Intel processor.
Key Information Regarding Your Own Chromebook:
Before choosing to bring your own device, please be aware of the following:
License Portability: The Chrome Education Upgrade License is associated with the school. If a student leaves, the license is removed, and the Chromebook reverts to a standard personal device. (See: https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/183084?hl=en)
License Longevity: The Chrome Education Upgrade license is active for the life of the Chromebook. An older device that fails will also lose its license, requiring a new license if you subsequently purchase a different Chromebook.
Mandatory Powerwash: For the school to install the license, your Chromebook must be reset to its factory settings via a powerwash. Instructions can be found here: https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/183084?hl=en. Note: After powerwashing, please refrain from using the device.
Powerwash Service: The GFM Technology Team can powerwash your Chromebook for you, but they cannot recover any data lost during this process.
Next Steps: Students will receive information about when to bring their Chromebook to school and when it will be available for pickup.
