The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) requires a system generated Transfer Certificate (TC) to register students at a new school in Dubai. If you have not done so already, please inform your current school of your intentions to withdraw.
The KHDA guidelines require all students who are moving to another school within Dubai to obtain a Transfer Certificate (TC) from their current school to complete the registration process in their new school. For those joining Dubai American Academy from another school within Dubai, this means that you are required to obtain a TC from your child’s current school in order to complete the registration process at Dubai American Academy. Please bring the Transfer Certificate to School along with the parent and child(ren’s) EIDs before your child begins school. In the absence of a transfer certificate, we are unable to properly register your child.
Students transferring from a school outside of Dubai require an original hard copy Transfer Certificate (TC). This should be obtained from your child's current school and submitted to our admissions office.
Please refer to the Transfer Certificate Guidelines for further information.
We have also linked here a Sample Transfer Certificate for reference.
Please be aware of the attestation rules for schools located in the identified countries.
High School students (Gr. 9 - 12) who are transferring from a different curriculum must also provide a UAE Ministry of Education equivalency letter.
For any questions in relation to the above information, please contact our Government Relations Executive, Soheir Mohamed - s.mohamed_daa@gemsedu.com
All students must be registered with The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), which is the educational quality assurance and regulatory authority of the Government of Dubai. In order to complete the formal registration process, all new students must send copies of the required documents as outlined below:
Student and Parent passports
Current Residency Visas for student and parents
Birth Certificate of Student
Emirates ID (both sides) of student and parents
Transfer Certificate
For those whose Emirates IDs are still under process, please send a copy of the Emirates ID application to the Registrar via registrar_daa@gemsedu.com. The registration of the Emirates ID is required before the child's first date of attendance.
If the Parent/Sponsor’s Passport or Residency visa has changed since your initial application, please also supply us with up to date copies.
Once the KHDA registration is approved, parents are required to sign a KHDA Parent School Contract. Parents new to DAA will receive their contract once they register with the school with their Emirates IDs. A signature will be required from new parents at the time that they register with the school. For more information on the contract, please visit: https://www.khda.gov.ae/en/parentcontracten
For any questions regarding the Emirates ID or KHDA Registration, please contact our Government Relations Executive, Soheir Mohamed s.mohamed_daa@gemsedu.com.

Everyone on campus must wear a lanyard. Parents/guardians are issued a yellow lanyard with their family pass. Staff wear their ID's on a blue lanyard and visitors to DAA who sign in at security are issued a green lanyard. Students wear dark blue lanyards.
DAA issues three identification cards (Family Passes) to all parents/guardians and adults who will require regular access to the campus. The Family Pass includes photos of the parent/adult and their child(ren) enrolled at DAA. The Family Pass is valid as long as the child attends the school. You will be asked to return all Family Passes should you withdraw from DAA. IDs requested on behalf of household workers should be returned to the school in the event that they are no longer in your employee.
In order for us to prepare your Family Passes, please complete your family details via https://connect.gemseducation.com. Navigate to 'Student Details/Info' and upload the scanned passport sized photos of the student(s) enrolling at DAA and each adult requiring access to campus. Please remember to save the photos with full names.
Family Pass Applications will be processed only if all photos are uploaded. Once they are ready, your family passes will be available at orientation or the first day of school.
Please complete the Family Passes details via https://connect.gemseducation.com or the GEMS Connect app by August 15, 2024.
Students from Grades 3 - 12 are issued DAA Student ID cards which are to be worn on campus and can be used in the Slices cafeterias or STS bus service. Once the parent has completed the GEMS Connect App uploaded all required photos, the student ID card will automatically be generated and given to the student via their homeroom teacher. ID cards are valid for the duration of your child's enrollment with us.
Students in Lower Elementary (K-Gr2) will not be issued ID cards unless they use the bus. Parents are able to place an delivery order from the cafeteria for classroom delivery. See Slices Cafeteria page for further detail.
