Kamloops Model United Nations was founded in 2023 to introduce delegates from Grades 8 to 12 to the world of Model UN. The founder of KMUN, Mirela Cardozo, chose to create a MUN as her final CAS project as a part of the International Baccalaureate Program. This conference aims to provide students with an educational experience that allows them to explore global issues in a learning-based environment. Over the course of the conference, delegates will be able to develop diplomacy, public speaking, and negotiation skills, all while grasping a more thorough understanding of international relations, world affairs, and the United Nations. KMUN strives to bring Model UN to new and experienced delegates alike, all the while challenging students to confront global issues and view the world through different perspectives.
KMUN traditionally occurs at Norkam Secondary School in Kamloops, British Columbia. a committee staff that is comprised of high school students from around Kamloops who have ample experience and awards in the world of Model UN and Debate, with a passion for diplomacy and global affairs. They are all thrilled to welcome the delegates who will be attending the third iteration of KMUN!
