The Blanket Exercise employs Indigenous methodologies, aiming to foster understanding of our collective history as both Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities in Canada. Participants traverse pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization, and resistance phases, actively stepping onto blankets symbolizing the land and assuming the roles of First Nations, Inuit, and later Métis peoples. This immersive experience, engaging both emotions and intellect, serves as an effective educational tool, promoting increased empathy.
