Reconciliation Day is a time for reflection, learning, and honoring the experiences of Indigenous Peoples, particularly those impacted by residential schools. As a district, we stand in solidarity with survivors, families, and communities by deepening our commitment to truth, healing, and meaningful change in education. We encourage all staff, students, and families to wear orange and engage in activities that foster understanding, respect, and reconciliation.
This video is intended to build awareness of the 9th Professional Standard for BC Educators and to encourage BC certified educators to embrace their professional responsibility. Examine your own biases, do your own learning, incorporate Indigenous perspectives into the curriculum, and develop respectful relationships with First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities.
