We are thankful for many wonderful things that we have accomplished since school has started, as we are sure that you as well, have a bunch of wonderful things to be grateful for. It looks like many of us have a routine and are adapting well to the school year. Trusting each other in these unprecedented times has really been a huge support. And the faculty and staff are very grateful that we have many parents and students who trust us enough to be a support for you, your child and their education.
Trust and trustworthiness is one of the pillars to being a positive influence in our community. Trust first begins with ourselves. Do we trust that we will always do our best at our responsibilities, or to make the best choices? Being honest with ourselves may be difficult at times, but in the end we really do know the effort, dedication and concern we put into our daily lives.
What exactly is trust? According to the dictionary trust is the firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. This is how we show others that we are trustworthy. Giving and receiving trust can be difficult at times and sometimes we may need help. We might even need the courage to trust someone to help us when we can’t find a solution to a problem we are facing. What do you do? Who can you trust to help you? It is a difficult choice but there are choices. You must trust in yourself to seek the help you need when you need it.
How do you know you need help? Trust your instincts. Finding it difficult to keep up with school work? Trust your teachers to guide you along the way. Finding that your grades are not as good as they were before? Trust your counselors, and teachers to help you come up with a plan to better understand how to get back your good grades. Communicating with the school develops a trusting relationship and if you are honest with your efforts it will also build or rebuild your good character.
Be honest with yourself and be kind. We will all need help at one time or another. We truly hope that if you find that you are losing trust in your abilities to keep up with school, your reliability with your grades or the strength to solve a problem please trust in us and ask for help. Here at FBLG we work hard to be trustworthy, by assisting our students and parents when we are asked. Laptop applications if you are interested in going online, Grade review with your teachers, feedback on your assignments to do better, Food distributions and work packet every Friday and of course our counselors are here for you if you just need someone to talk to about your frustrations. We hope that we have built a level of trust with you and we trust and believe in you to ask us for help when you need it.
Dear Student 💛
Build Trust in Yourself Again and Again…
There is no one more important to trust than yourself. Sometimes we lose trust in ourselves after we make a mistake or if someone criticizes us harshly or constantly. It might even make it more difficult for you to make decisions or want to do things you normally do. You doubt yourself because you fear you will make another mistake. You might even criticize yourself more than usual. There are many others who feel the same way. Below are some ways to help boost your trust in yourself. Before you say this won’t work for me, try them out first. Trust in your reliability.
Be yourself: Remind yourself it’s okay to be you. Practice with people you are most comfortable with. If you like singing while you work, don’t hold back. Trust in yourself that you will know the best song to sing and when it is appropriate.
Set Reasonable Goals: try setting little goals that will help you in the direction of your big goal. If your big goal is to get good grades, start with doing your work a little at a time and increase them as you go. You will find that you are more successful everytime you turn in an assignment and before you know it succeeded at your big goal.
Be Kind to Yourself: Don’t be so harsh when you make a mistake, think about what you did right and how you can do better on the mistake you made. If making it better requires you to ask for help, Be kind to yourself and ask a person who can help you. Your parents, teachers, counselors and friends.
