Two-hundred and fifty-six dollars. That's how much we spent at, unbeknownst to us, an infamous celebrity restaurant, Panna II. A group of my friends decided to take my other friend here for her birthday to enjoy some exciting decorations and delicious Indian food. Not that the food was terrible, but after we got the bill, we weren't 100% convinced it was worth it. At the time, I had absolutely no idea what we were eating at this restaurant. I knew there was naan, I knew Emily Ratajkowski was on the wall, and I knew the food was good. After throughout research after the Panna II experience, here's what I think we got...
For appetizers, we started with some samosas, some filled with vegetables and others with coconut, which seemed to be a reoccurring theme throughout the meal. We were also brought channa poori, a chickpea stew. We never ordered any of the food, so I would assume they brought us some special prix-fix menu for birthday parties. I came to this assumption because we received around 3-4 plates of whatever dish they decided to bring us. All of the appetizers were delicious and served with warm naan. Moving onto what I think would be the main course, we were brought Malai, which was a coconut curry with chicken in it, and a piaz curry (I'm pretty sure ours was served with beef), which is a curry cooked in a spicy, tangy, tomatoey, sauce. Overall, with the festive decor and the tasty food, I can see why Solange Knowes hosted her 2014 Met Gala here.
