Blue Ribbon Sushi is a restaurant part of the Blue Ribbon Family. Blue Ribbon Restaurants are a creation of the Chefs Eric and Bruce Blumberg. Their first restaurant was opened in 1992, the Blumberg Brasserie in New York City! Since then, they have opened up even more restaurants across the United States in places like Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Maimi, and Nashville. Today I tried out their Blue Ribbon Sushi restaurant in Soho!
House Salad
Tekka-Don
The restaurant has moody lighting and an open sushi bar where you can watch the chefs prepare sushi right before you! The restaurant was bustling, and we only snagged a reservation at 9:45 pm! I went here with my brother, and we ordered a "tuna-centric" spread of food as that is our favorite fish! For appetizers, we ordered the edamame, which was nothing special, but nonetheless good; the house salad, which featured creamy avocado and a delicious dressing that I loved; a plate of oysters, which came with a tangy ponzu sauce; the miso soup, which was nothing special, but still a solid soup; the wagyu gyoza, which was delicious and savory; and the spicy tuna crispy rice, which was a highlight of our night due to its buttery crispy rice and flavorful tuna.
Wagyu Gyoza & Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice
For our mains, my brother ordered the Tekka-Don, a large bowl of sushi rice with fresh sashimi on top, and I ordered the yellowtail scallion rolls and some sashimi. For dessert, we shared the green tea crème brûlée, which was very good! Overall we would definitely recommend this spot, although we agreed it was on the pricey side!
