ATTENTION!! It is VERY important that your student has a working laptop, good internet access, and is free from distractions while completing his or her school work.
Due to the new requirements given by our governor, we will be using Distance Learning to begin this school year. Don't forget, that this year your student also has 2 different teachers! One teacher will be teaching Math and Science, and the other will be teaching ELA and Social Studies (be sure to check out the page for each teacher). Students will be expected to attend live virtual meetings every day for attendance, and two days each week (either M/W or T/Thu) they will have virtual lessons with their classroom teachers. During these meetings, they will get instruction from both teachers, at designated times. The schedule is as follows:
Time Class
8:30-9:00 Attendance, Good Things, Announcements (homeroom teacher)
9:00-10:00 Lesson (ELA or Math)
10:00-10:15 Break
10:15-10:45 Lesson (Social studies or Science)
10:45-10:55 Switch Zoom Meetings (Students will now be with partner teacher)
10:55-11:10 Attendance, Good Things, Announcements
11:10-12:10 Lesson (ELA or Math)
12:10-1:10 Lunch
1:10-1:40 Lesson (Social Studies or Science)
Students are expected to log in to the virtual meeting with the classroom teachers two days a week (either M/W or T/Th). The other 3 days of the week, students will have independent work to complete and review before the next meeting. Students will be given 4 hours of classwork to complete, before the next virtual meeting day. They will also need to log in for virtual lessons from their PE and Russian teachers.
Please note: These are not "off" days, as students are still expected to attend virtual meetings for PE, Russian, and possibly other interventions.
Problems may arise with your technology during distance learning. Sometimes, you might be able to google the problem, and solve it yourself! Here is a link to some basic issues that you might experience.
If you cannot figure out a solution on your own AND you have borrowed a school laptop, you can email the school's tech support person, and they might be able to assist you: Alesia.Ryazantseva@gcccharters.org
**Please Note: If you are unable to join a virtual meeting at the designated time due to technical issues, please contact the teacher as soon as possible so he or she can make any needed accommodations. You can find teacher emails or phone numbers on the Contact Information tab.
