Hello! I am Renee Hypes and I am the agriculture teacher at Gloucester High School. I have been here since the fall of 2015. Before coming to Gloucester High School, I worked for Colonial Williamsburg as the IPM technician for 10 years. IPM is integrated pest management; my job consisted of monitoring the health of and developing and implementing a plan to control pests on Colonial Williamsburg's landscapes.
I attended Randolph-Henry High School in Charlotte Court House, VA and was in horticulture classes and active in FFA. At the state FFA convention after my senior year, I ran for and was chosen as State Vice President for Virginia FFA. I served from 2000-2001. I went on to attend and graduate from Virginia Tech in 2003 with a Bachelor's of Science in Horticulture and then in 2007 with a Master's of Science in Career and Technical Education.
I was a member of Alpha Zeta, Phi Alpha Xi, and Gamma Sigma Delta honor fraternities in college. I am an ISA certified arborist, a certified nutrient management planner, and a Virginia commercial pesticide applicator. I have also attended and passed a certification for landscape management through Auburn University's Green Industry Webportal.
My family and I live in King and Queen county and love the area. I have enjoyed my experience in Gloucester greatly and am excited to work with the school, community, and of course students!
