Social emotional learning, or SEL, is teaching students to understand the relationship between emotions and behaviors in relation to their self-worth, education, and overall well-being. It emphasizes self-regulation, or being able to calm down independently.

Relationship Skills: communication, social engagement, building and maintaining relationships, working in groups and tams
Responsible Decision Making: identifying problems, creating solutions, evaluation, reflection, and considering ethics
Social Awareness: perspective taking, empathy, appreciating diversity, respect for others
Self-Monitoring or Self-Management: impulse control, stress management, self-disciple, self-motivation, setting goals, organizational skills, and punctuality
Self-Awareness: Identifying emotions, self-worth, self-confidence, self-efficacy
