Tips for At-Home Learning Success

Tips for At-Home Learning Success

  • Create a routine - Children do best on a routine. Most people do! It helps our brains work more efficiently when we know what to expect and when to expect it. Click HERE for a sample schedule.

  • Create a space - Having an organized work space will help your child to work at their best! Find a clear spot on a table for their device and some paper. Use folders or a drawer system to organize their materials and have materials nearby (pencils, crayons, paper, etc.). If you can, find separate spaces for each child to minimize distractions.

  • Create a calm environment - Make sure to minimize distractions like TV, music, or other loud noises. Remember that if you are calm, your child is more likely to be calm. Discuss as a family that everyone is trying to do the best they can do during this time.

  • Create rewards - Remind students that work comes first, then they can have free time. Set goals with your child. Encourage your students to work for a reasonable amount of time and take frequent breaks. Do something fun as a family on Friday night or the weekend as a reward for working hard all week. This could be a game night, movie night, or ordering pizza! We all do well when we have something to look forward to!
