A great strategy for students to use when feeling a strong emotion (angry, sad, excited, nervous) is deep breathing or belly breathing. As a school, we start our day by taking 3 belly breaths to get our mind set and ready for a day of learning and we finish our day with 3 belly breaths as we reflect on our day. Have your child practice belly breathing before starting a learning session to get their mind and body ready for learning. End the learning session with belly breathing as a way to reflect on the learning completed. Here are different ways we’ll be learning to belly breathe.
