Google-Fy Your Learning

Information

Students will sharpen their skills in the Google Suite. This will help create more interesting and engaging ways to present their learning to their teachers and in the future. Also, students will take a more advanced approach to the programs in Google Suite to better enhance their learning and ability to communicate.

Grade Level: 6th - 8th

Weeks: Week I & II

Session: Half Day

Time: Morning Session: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM and/Or

Afternoon Session: 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

(Free breakfast and lunch will be provided)

Location: Sam Houston MS

Format: Face-to-Face or Virtual

Activities

• Design a poster about you to introduce yourself to the class using Google Drawings.

• Make a promotional poster to recruit volunteers to participate in a program using Google Drawings

• Make Art with Google Sheets

• Create a presentation “All about a Topic” in Slides. The presentation will be interactive.

• Create an IF THEN Adventure story in Google Slides

• Create an Interactive Guide to an area in Google Slides.

• Write a story using Emojis in Google Docs.

• Create a Digital Portfolio in Google Sites to show off all of their learning this week.

• Create a Photo Journal in Google Docs

My experience

I am Emily Gathman. I am a 6th grade science teacher at Bussey Middle School. I love working with the Google Suite and technology tools to help students demonstrate their learning in a fun and innovative way. I have been teaching for 22 years, and most of those years have been in Middle School (because I love it).

I love forward to having fun this summer learning new skills with all of you!
