Beyond the Seven Seas

Information

In this camp students will be able to identify different cultures around the world and how different cultures impact their daily lives. Students will also be able to enhance their English language skills.

Grade Level: 5th

Weeks: Week I & II

Session: Half Day

Time: Morning Session: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM and/Or

Afternoon Session: 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

(Free breakfast and lunch will be provided)

Location: Sellers MS

Format: Face-to-Face or Virtual

Activities

• Students will review how to research a particular country, the learning objectives, and how to create a presentation.

• Students will then be introduced to different cultures across the world:

  • Northeastern Hemisphere, including the U.S. Mexico, Canada, etc.

  • Southeastern Hemisphere, including Brazil, Argentina, Chile, etc.

  • Northwestern Hemisphere, including England, China, Israel, etc.

  • Southwestern Hemisphere, including Australia South Africa, Madagascar, etc.

My experience

My name is Ms. Marquez. I am a 5th Grade Bilingual Teacher. I enjoy traveling, learning about new cultures, and what makes us each unique and similar. I am excited to welcome and travel the world with campers this summer at Camp GISD. Since I am a late-exit Bilingual teacher I wanted to provide a fun experience for students as they transition to English-language learning. However, this camp is open for anyone desiring to experience travels and cultures "Beyond the Seven Seas".
