Welcome to Tanglin Trust School. Our community has been looking forward to this moment for two years or more! The pandemic has curtailed our capacity to come together to share in the greatness of sporting competition. So it is with considerable excitement and enthusiasm that we welcome you to Singapore-the little red dot.
Football is known as the ‘beautiful game’. It combines elements of life-beauty, conflict, athleticism, grace, and theatre, with villains, foes and friends, all brought together under the watchful eye of a referee/s….I am sure you will revel in it.
Preparation for this tournament has been tortuously long-congratulations on your resilience and commitment. You will enjoy the challenge of competing, but we also hope that the opportunities for camaraderie with family and friends, combined with meeting new and interesting peers from other parts of the globe, will create the heady exhilaration that only sport can produce.
Best wishes for a successful and enjoyable weekend at Tanglin Trust School.
Kind regards,
Craig Considine
Dear all,
New to UWCSEA and to Dover, I am thrilled to be here at a time when school sports are returning and I am delighted to see the SEASAC football tournament take place here. I extend the warmest welcome to our visiting students, coaches, teachers and parents. We are all in for a treat; great competition and camaraderie.
The planning for such events is tremendously time consuming both in terms of hosting and as a visiting team. COVID has presented us with a whole new compliance frameworks within which we must work. And so to all who have played a role in getting SEASAC football ready for our enjoyment, thank you seems insufficient. But thank you, all.
Our field at Dover is new this summer and early reports are that it plays well, the surface is true and of the highest standard. That should lead to some fluid football. I hope for good-spirited contests, played within the values of SEASAC with our athletes supported in the 'right way'. Let's let the players play, the coaches coach and the referees referee and let the results take care of themselves.
I will, of course, be cheering for a Dover win. You would expect nothing less. Above all, hope for a safe enjoyable tournament one in which life long memories are made. Let the games commence!
