Faé HEAD OF GYMNASTICS

Faé is the Head of Phoenix Gymnastics and the Senior Team Coach of WAG Level 5 to 7 at Dover Campus. Faé leads and manages the gymnastics department for both recreation and competitive programmes. Through professional development, coaching workshops and certification, she ensures her coaching staff provides a high level of excellence and best coaching possible to UWCSEA students. She worked with her team of coaches to build an in-house curriculum; Progression & Analysis System for the Gym School programme and Road Map Development Plan for the Gym Team programme to ensure the safe development of all UWCSEA gymnasts. 


Faé started working at UWCSEA in 2013 as the gymnastics administrator/coach. In 2017, she became the Head of Gym School and in 2020, Head of Gymnastics. Faé started her gymnastics coaching career in Singapore in late 2011 at Raffles Gymnastics Academy lasting 1.5 years. From January 2009 to December 2010, she was a coach at Multisport China, a company providing sports coaching services to international schools in Shanghai and Beijing. Prior to working in China, she was a competitive coach for 5 years at Gymnastics and Movement Centre, Philippines. Faé has been coaching gymnastics since 1998 and passionate about the sport since she was 6 years old.


COACHING QUALIFICATIONS

BEN HEAD OF PERFOMANCE

Ben is the Head of Performance which is in charge of coach management and athlete progression. He stepped up as the WAG Senior Team Coach in March 2022. He has been coaching in Singapore since 2014 across all aspects of the sport: from women’s competitive squads, men’s and women’s recreational classes, parkour classes, ages 3 to 22. During this time he has worked both in private clubs as well as International School gymnastics programmes and have a good handle on the intricacies of each environment.

Ben worked at The Yard Acrobatic Center - Singapore from October of 2016 with the roles of CIS School Lead and Squad Competitive coach until his departure in May 2018. As CIS School lead he was in charge of all day to day running of their gymnastics programme at CIS (64 students across 8 classes per week). Ben worked with competitive gymnasts as lead coach across levels 2, 3, 4 and preparation for 5 in the Australian National Development Programme. Prior to working at the Yard, he was also a squad coach at Prime Gymnastics where he trained gymnasts from the same Level from 2014 to 2016.


COACHING QUALIFICATIONS

MAKSIM LEAD MAG COACH

Maksim is a professional artistic Gymnastics coach for our recreational and competitive levels with all-round coaching experience and strong background in high-tier circus performance, internationally.

Hailed from Golem, Belarus, Maksim was a former Junior National Team. He started coaching after he retired from circus performance. In 2014, he worked as a recreational and competitive coach at Asia Gymnastics Academy at Turf City. He has been working with our gym school and gym team programme since 2015. Maksim is involved in talent identification and selection to help the MAG programme develop and increase in numbers.


COACHING QUALIFICATIONS

RICO JUNIOR MAG COACH

Rico's passion in gymnastics started when he was eleven years old. He was part of the Philippine National Team representing the Philippines in numerous competitions around the world, including ASEAN and the SEA Games. Rico continued with the sport as a Gymnastics Coach for fifteen years in both MAG and WAG. He has  worked in the Philippines, China, Singapore and Australia. 

Rico is a certified MAG FIG Level 1 Coach, an Accredited MAG Advanced Coach and MAG Intermediate Bronze Judge. He has the necessary skills and discipline to Impart his knowledge as a Coach so that gymnasts can enjoy the sport safely and realise their fullest potential. He would also like to continue to contribute and promote the sport in various ways, as an educator and a judge.


COACHING QUALIFICATIONS

Yi SHAN JUNIOR WAG COACH

Yi Shan Chua began coaching at Raffles Gymnastics Academy in 2015. She moved to work at The Yard in 2016. Yi Shan had the opportunity to coach school programs at the various International schools; coach and manage Women’s Artistic (WAG) competitive teams performing Australian Development Programs (ALP) Levels 2-4 and Trampoline competitive teams of Level 1-2; run recreational programs, camps and birthday parties; assist in and choreograph performance shows; perform administrative duties and training of junior coaches. 

Yi Shan then headed to Brisbane, Australia to work at 360 Gymnastics from 2020-2023. Here, she was involved in and assisted in many aspects of the running of the gym, as well as had her hand in coaching all the available classes, including kindergym, Men’s Artistic and WAG recreational classes, adults’ classes, pre-competitive classes. She also coached squads performing ALP 3-6, developing them toward Level 7 and beyond. She brought her teams to State and National Championships, as well as interstate competitions. Beyond coaching, Yi Shan has achieved judging accreditations in WAG and trampoline and accreditation in Sports Massage. Yi Shan believes in developing great people by imparting values through the training of gymnastics and hopes she can bring that to every gymnast she coaches.

BUCK JUNIOR WAG COACH

Buck is a former Aerobic national team member representing the Philippines. Buck arrived in Singapore in January 2019 following five years as a lead coach at British School Manila. After spending nearly a decade working in gymnastics; women's recreational, grassroots, and up to competitive level (National and Elite) he chose to move to Singapore to work for UWCSEA. He is passionate about coaching and making sure that all students receive a positive experience in gymnastics. He is proud to work alongside the teachers and coaches in the gymnastics department and to play a part in such a forward-thinking and enthusiastic team.


COACHING QUALIFICATIONS

YANINA ADMINISTRATOR & COACH

Yanina is the gymnastics administrator and a gym school coach. She is in charge of the day to day administration; assist the head of gymnastics, liaise with gymnastics coaches, maintain/update gymnasts records, programme information, calendar of events, registration, payment, attendance and parents inquiries. 

Yanina has been involved in Gymnastics for over 30 years, having represented Argentina as a National Team member and as a professional acrobat for Cirque Du Soleil based in Asia. Following her life-long passion for the sport, Yanina continued her involvement as a gymnastics administrator and coach over the last 20 years with experience in several programs including in the USA & Australia. Her coaching experience ranges from Kindergym, Recreational & Competitive programs. She is passionate about offering a safe and fun environment where children can learn the FUNdamentals skills of the sport.

Founders of UWCSEA Gymnastics

A former Great Britain Gymnast, Nik developed the Gymnastics Programme at UWCSEA Dover campus from 2000 to 2017. He was the Head of Gymnastics and responsible for the Gym School and Gym Team Programmes. A former gymnast, Dan currently teaches Mathematics at the college. He was a skilled Men's Artistic gymnast and represented Canada in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California. Nik, along with Dan Gaudet designed, project managed and built certain areas of the current Gymnastics centre at the Dover campus.
