Active Projects & Sessions
SSEP Entrepreneurship Programme: Launched on the 1st of October, the SSEP got off to a fantastic start with our special guest Kevin Lai giving the keynote to both East and Dover students. The event introduced the participants to each other, the programme and provided them with a rare opportunity to network with experts in the fields of Startups, Business, Industry through the Social Sustainable lens. This Wednesday, the 7th October, we were privileged to have Ms Shine Ding give both Easrt and Dover a workshop on Building an Effective Team and Business Etiquette.
The Deadline for the Company Profile is due today (10th October Midnight)
UWCSEA East X GESS GoKart: Students have made excellent progress in this engineering quest, stripped to parts and ready to go, styudents have been modelling the chassis in both CAD and Styrofoam, they have worked on the electric propulsion systems and have reached an agreement. The next stages will involve cutting the metal and welding the frame.
MATEROV: The MATEROV activity is well under way as students begin to build the submersible drone chassis, identifying S.W.O.T from previous models, our Middle Schoolers are ready for the challenge.
OrganicMechanics: With a new lighting rig and a complete re-jiggle of the FarmBot area, we can now safely get into the space. We've had Grade 2 students "wondering" and "wandering" around the space, looking at how the Algae produces Oxygen, how the Tomatoes, Beetroots and Chilis respond to different environmental conditions. If you're looking to branch out, come visit the place.
All things MineCraft: The final MineCraft session ran this week for the half term, Junior School students were tasked with building a house, individually. Showing off their engineering skills and design flare, guess what?? They all won!
VEX: Our Grade 9 team will have it's first meeting today, after 13 years, UWCSEA East now has a registered VEX V5 Team. We would like to wish Justin all the best as he and his team break new ground in this area.
Dyson Foundation: We are very lucky to have Clement visit us from Dyson Hair through the JDF this coming November. Clement will be running a workshop for IB Design Students as they focus on Life Cycle Analysis and Designing for Disassembly.
HMGICS: With only a few weeks left, we look forward to seeing how our students are doing this re-engineering competition as they look at passenger experience in the new Hyundai IONIQ 5. Good luck HS.
We encourage all students to explore these exciting opportunities. Follow the links to learn more and sign up!
