International Mother Language Day has been observed every year since February 2000 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism.
With this year's UNESCO 2022 International Mother Language Day theme being
“Using technology for multilingual learning: Challenges and opportunities,”
our Home Languages Department, as well as our G11 HLP-ers planned out amazing activities celebrating and promoting awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity.
These activities vary from making arts and crafts, learning new words in different languages to understanding the consequences of COVID-19 for students from minority ethnic and linguistic groups. These activities were carried out between the 21st - 25th February 2022.
To end off the joyous week, UWCSEA celebrated UNESCO International Mother Language Day by having our own Cultural Dress-Up Day on 25th February 2021. Students came to school in their gorgeous and colourful cultural dresses.
