Last year, the CSLWP STEM Ecosystem asked schools to promote a “STEM Day” on November 8th. It went so well, we are looking to promote it again this year across an entire week. This week will run from November 4th to November 8th where we are asking teachers to gear up and offer STEM-based opportunities in their classrooms, across grade levels, building-wide, or, even better, integrate STEM with some form of service learning project for your local community. For additional support, please access our Resources page.
Besides offering our kids the chance to engage in cross-curricular activities, an added goal of STEM Week is to publicize the great work of our schools. With this in mind, we hope that you can help us follow up on STEM Week with a “media blitz” on November 8 to showcase what participating schools have accomplished by:
Post to social media platforms (tag #STEM4ALL & #STEMinPA / mention @STEMCSL) any descriptions, images, and/or video of your school’s STEM Week endeavors.
Use digital signage to display the following message “Promoting STEM opportunities for ALL students – Nov 8th National STEM Day CSL STEM Ecosystem”
Contact local press/political offices
Email Francine Kluck, fkluck@lccc.edu, any information regarding the STEM Week events your school plans to facilitate.
BRC13 Interview at HighwoodUSA
Feel free to pass this information along to your building leadership and staff, and we look forward to see what they have accomplished.
We had a fantastic turn out for our STEM Week press release event last Wednesday at HighwoodUSA. Membership from businesses and educational organizations from the Carbon, Schuylkill, and Luzerne Counties were all in attendance and declared their support of this week. We hope that participation in STEM Week will serve as a catalyst for some and for others serve as a space to shout out to the community the amazing work your schools already have underway. I encourage you to view the news coverage of the press event on BRC13 News Channel.
